Awesome zozi Experience of the Week: Fly Your Own Fighter Jet

Picture this: You zip up your flight suit and throw on your helmet. Through your tinted aviators, you see the Aero L-39 Albatross fighter jet in all of its bad-ass glory…whispering your name, waiting for you to hop in and take it for a spin. You begin to hear the Top Gun theme song in your head, and you realize its not a dream you’re having one late night on your couch after falling asleep to the movie on TBS. It’s for real.
This week’s zozi’s Awesome Experience of the Week (although “awesome” we can all agree might be a bit of an understatement), will let you fly your own fighter jet ($2,549) - a 45 minute flight unlike any other in Los Angeles that will have you riding “Goose.” If you’ve been a good student and if you’re feeling comfortable, you can take to the wheel, take the controls and fly the L-39 Albatros yourself.
With this once in a lifetime experience from MiGFlug, you will arrive for your flight and meet the pilot who will be navigating your wild tour, then take in theoretical instruction by experienced flight instructors. After lift off, your flight will include a screaming ascent, loops, rolls, split-s, dives and more. Zip through canyon runs at speeds you’ve never experienced.
With the adrenaline coursing through your veins, feel free to throw out a Top Gun line or two knowing you probably knocked off an equivalent of three items of of your Lifetime Bucket List because this one experience, is just that awesome.

zozi’s Awesome Experience of the Week: Learn the Art of Glass Blowing
After you’ve stuffed yourself with turkey and cranberry sauce, spend this weekend getting in touch with your inner artisan, and hit up the Bay Area Glass Institute in San Jose, California, and spend a few hours learning the art of glassblowing ($79) - an incredible and beautiful artform invented by the Phoenicians in the middle of the last century BC.You can hand-craft the perfect holiday gift instead of fighting the crowds at the mall and your experienced instructors, Treg and Deva, will guide you in learning this craft and see to it that you receive personalized and individual attention. When the lesson begins, you’ll get comfortable at the bench, working with molten glass in a 2000°F furnace. A maximum of four people per bench will spend 2 hours working on creating their own “2 color,” unique “float.” Your instructor will help gather the glass, and help shape and blow the glass into a sphere. When you’re done, there will be a rush of gratifying excitement - you’ll realize that you’ve created something with your own two hands, rather than staring at it from behind your computer wishing you could one day cross it off of your bucket list.At zozi, we love using our hands, being creative, and learning all kinds of art forms (old and new). Now we want to hear from you! What types of craft experiences do you want to see more of on zozi? Tell us your thoughts!-The zozi Team -

zozian of the Week - Allison Carlson, Customer Relations Queen
Each week, we’ll be highlighting one employee at zozi. One of the things we’re most proud of at our company is that we have some really awesome people who work here. From our world Rubik’s cube champion engineer, to our CEO who has cycled from Portugal to Italy with only his bike and a compass to raise money for Livestrong, we all have a shared passion for new experiences, adventures, pushing our boundaries, and straight up - living life to the fullest.
Behind all of the unique experiences we bring to you guys everyday, there is a team of real people, with one-of-a-kind quirks, passions, stories, and experiences that make zozi what it is today.
Feel free to reach out to us anytime if you’d like to meet us here at the office for happy hour - contact us at hello@zozi.com.
Without further ado, here is our first zozian of the week:

What’s Your Name? Allison Carlson
Where’s your hometown? Fort Worth, Texas
What’s your gig here at zozi? I’m the Customer Relations Queen - I make sure that our customers are happy, satisfied, and ready for a great adventure.
How did your hear about zozi and why do you work here? I found zozi while looking for fun things to do in the area (Saturdays spent watching my boyfriend playing video games were getting a little tired). I’m here because every office needs a “quirky girl”.
What’s a recent awesome life experience you’ve had? I recently went to see my favorite band of all times ever, The Kings of Convenience. During their song “Know How”, which has vocals done by the singer Feist at the end, they asked all the girls in the audience to sing. I was right up against the stage, directly under the lead singer, and as I was singing my little heart out, he looked down at me, looked me right in the eye, and did a double take, and then gave me an enthusiastic nod of approval at my singing. I just about died.
If you could BE any one place in the world, what you be any why? New Orleans - no finer time than with absinthe, beignets, and jazz.

zozi’s Awesome Experience of the Week: Horseback Riding and Dog Sledding Adventure in Maine
“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.”
― Henry David Thoreau

We’ll be kicking off a new series on our blog today where we’ll highlight our favorite experience on zozi each week. They’ll be featured for various reasons: 1) sheer awesomeness 2) complete uniqueness 3) rad merchants/business owners 4) inspiring us with creative ways to live life to the fullest.
If you’re looking to get in touch with your inner Henry David Thoreau in the great outdoors this weekend, we have the perfect zozi experience in store for you. This unique two-day, one night horseback riding and dog sledding ($135) adventure takes place in the beautiful town of Mason Township, Maine, just a 3.5 hour scenic drive along the New England coast from Boston. This incredible zozi experience is a unique overnight getaway that will have you forgetting all your city woes while you spend the weekend connecting with majestic horses and huskies through a horse-driven carriage ride and husky-sledding adventure with New England Dog Sledding.
You’ll arrive midday beneath fall foliage for a carriage or trail ride, spend the night at the historic and elegant Telemark Inn, and dine on a hearty cozy homemade dinner that balances fine cuisine and natural bounty – the Inn maintains its own organic vegetable, fruit, and herb gardens. You’ll awake the next morning to a scrumptious breakfast then head outside to learn dog-sled training techniques and work with huskies for dog sledding season by training them with carts on the trails.
Steve, the owner of New England Dogsledding, has been living his life-long dream of working with furry, four-legged creatures (huskies, dogs, llamas and horses) in the great outdoors for over twenty seven years. His biggest passion is showing people the beauty of nature and teaching them how to really “get close” to the experience both for the benefit of our natural world and for the personal growth of a person.
Hats off to you Steve! We dig that here at zozi. We would imagine this close-to-home weekend adventure would feel very similar to sipping hot cider by a crackling fireplace with your oldest, most favorite sweatshirt on. But don’t just take our word for it…
Check it out yourself here.
zozi fans and readers, we’d love to hear from you about our inaugural zozi awesome experience of the week. Does it inspire you to connect with the great outdoors? Do you love the woods and four-legged creatures of all kinds and wish we could bring this experience to a city near you? Please post your thoughts and comments below. Or let us know @zozi on twitter.
